Cylindrical flap wheel made of non-woven abrasive fabric for use with satin finishing and surface matting attachments:
GLOB SYSTEM GS04 and GS05
GLOB TOOLS GT04-01
Applications:
Matting and satin-finishing of metal surfaces
Grinding and polishing of metal surfaces
The non-woven abrasive fabric is a tool used for surface finishing processes. The spatial distribution of abrasive grains combined with the flexible structure gives the tool elasticity, allowing it to adapt to the shape of the workpiece and enabling grinding without overheating.
The non-woven fabric incorporates abrasive grains of electrocorundum in a synthetic binder. Electrocorundum is a synthetic form of aluminum oxide. Thanks to its irregular crystalline structure, a blocky grain is formed, which fractures during grinding from the tip. This type of abrasive grain is hard and durable, making it suitable not only for grinding metal but also a variety of other materials.
The operating speed (maximum 2800 RPM) should not be too low to prevent the flaps from pressing against too large a surface area. Excessive contact area increases friction, leading to overheating of both the flap wheel and the workpiece.
